We're proud to support the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' SAFE initiative: A commitment to harness our collective resources, focus on specific endangered species, and save them from extinction by restoring healthy populations in the wild. By sharing research and knowledge, participating institutions work together to establish guidelines that best ensure the health of captive populations, and with success, the survival of endangered species. The buffet across the street was fabulous and had GREAT service. We really enjoyed our stay, but we weren't in the room much. Our room in the Franklin was a mixture of charming historic (Old solid wood door, Old door handles, push button light switch, antique radiator, hex tile bathroom floor, wide hallways, vintage light fixtures) and 1970's TACKY (popcorn cracked ceiling, vanity, entertainment center, desk, side tables and chair, and thick sticky emerald green carpet - all 70's vibe). They smell bad and are in serious need of some work! They're old. Housekeeping does the best they can with what they have to work with, but the rooms are just not nice. The staff of the hotel was helpful, especially the doormen and the veranda bartender, Dennis. Everything we wanted was in walking distance or there was a trolley stop right outside the hotel. We sat on the veranda and watched a band right across the street and the gunfights in the street. This is the absolute best location in town. If you want a nice room, find somewhere else.
